Description

At first glance, one would assume this swallow is singing, calling for his mate, or sounding a warning. The reason his mouth is open is because it was about 102 degrees when I snapped this picture, and he's panting in an effort to stay cool.

We have swallows raising young ones most years at our home, and their antics and dedication to raising and protecting their youngun's is a delight to watch. Did you know that they can pull 9 G's in a hard turn? Humans begin to loose consciousness somewhere around 6 G's.
