Description
What river runs through Pittsburgh?
We all know that Pittsburgh has three rivers – it's one of the first things you learn about Pittsburgh! There's the Allegheny, the Monongahela, and the two rivers meet to form the Ohio River.
From the top of Mt. Washington, this view shows where the two above mentioned rivers meet to form the Ohio River. In the foreground one can see the Duquesne Incline: a funicular located near Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood and scaling Mt. Washington. Designed by Hungarian-American engineer Samuel Diescher, the incline was completed in 1877.
