Description
We ate dinner one evening at a popular restaurant with outdoor seating in Peru, and these braziers were everywhere, not for cooking on, but to provide some warmth against the chill of the evening. It was quaint & charming, and most definitely added to the ambience of the experience. These would never be allowed in the USA of course, somebody might get burned, and the law suits would begin flying.
Several years ago, our local church supported a young man as a missionary in Peru. He invited our church to travel to Peru to help him one summer, and a few of us spent a week or so in Lima and surrounding areas. We were able to work at Catholic School where we built and stocked a library for them with Spanish language books. (We all took one extra suitcase full of books, and if memory serves there were about 1200 or so.) We also built an awning over their outdoor recess area, restored multiple sports facilities, worked in local neighborhoods, etc.
At the conclusion of the week, some of us traveled to Cusco, and Machu Picchu. What a fascinating story of the Peruvian history!
