Description
In my backyard, right next to the patio door, this beautiful sunflower sprung up volunteer.
It's common in West Texas to see volunteer sunflowers come up in un-tilled fields, sometimes in such great numbers, one wonders if the land owner actually planted them?
We feed our wild birds lots of sunflower seeds too, so there are always a few of them in our flower gardens and nearby pastures. "Common as your left foot" is an expression, but, they are still beautiful!
Fun Fact: They are named for the way they turn their blooms from east to west to follow the Sun.
