I wish I could remember exactly where this was, so that I could research the construction and time period of the tunnel. I must have taken 50 photographs or more of this tunnel, from both sides and every angle, and finally decided I liked this perspective the best. No fall foliage in this one, but it is stark and gripping.
A few years ago, I wanted to add some fall foliage pictures to my portfolio. Since my hometown in West Texas doesn't provide much in that area due to a lack of anything but mesquite trees, I drove to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and made it my home base for 3 or 4 days. The original plan was to drive around the countryside, find beautiful stands of turning aspens, and return to that spot the next day when the light was striking the trees from the desired direction.
