My father was a WWII pilot, and I grew up around all kinds of airplanes that he flew after the war. Mixing photography and airplanes was an opportunity I couldn't pass up with these shoots. I knew people who had old WWII airplanes, and I knew models who liked shooting pin up styled photos, so I organized a photo shoot and invited other photographers to come play with us. We made a fun evening out of it!
I always loved the "Nose Art" paintings on the old WWII airplanes, and after a whole lot of trial and error, I have finally figured out a method that turns an ordinary photograph into a "Pinup" style that sort of resembles the retro art form from back in the day.
