If we are fortunate enough to get ample rain during the winter and early spring, our pasture in West Texas will literally come alive with new growth and vibrant colors, replacing the dead and brown flora that preceded it just a few short weeks ago. These wildflowers appear to be protected by the prickly pear cactus that surrounds and guards them.
